dare studio´s move to Stockholm

About a week ago loads of me gear was loaded into Our new daily transporter, a Mondeo Estate that was filled with amplifiers and guitars and stuff. Back in Stockholm now as a retired ole man i sat down with gadgets in hope to record an old tune of mine.

The song as such (it isnt much of a song really) was kickstarted in the mid 90ies caused be a tune performed by at that time a popular swedish band called Ace of base. They used three single tones to make a song, and I started of with 4!

To make things even worse the song suddenly grow to a 10 minute fanatic disaster, and was at this stage of production recorded with me ole TEAC 4-track machine. A lot of overdubbing, natuarly with loss of dynamic range it was ready for the final step.

By now a the voice of a female singer was missing, and when she realised what she was supposed to do in the tune, she told me to leave the room. So I did and app 15 minutes later I arrived back to find the result of her lonliness.

That one recording was tragicaly lost years ago.

So Ive tried hard to make new versions of the tune. Lots of time have been spent on recording this particular tune, but none of them was what I wanted.

Up until today it has been a hopeless situation. So with the help of my computerprogram, some different instruments the tune was finally ready.
As I do not have any what so ever skills in using a set of drums Im forced to rely on me Casio Keyboard to give me the drumsection, and the strings.

And natuarly for a Burns-freak I used one of my Burns guitars to give the recording loads of guitars.

So yesterday the recordings of me tune called S/M Interlude was finally ready and after putting a load of nice pics together to a film it was released on YouTube.

The intention with this particular musicproject was to write and make a tune made to measure for the BDSM-Fetish scene. A tune for dancing or playing naughty games to.

click on the song title below to listen to the song.

have a great time.

Dreams never die!

It all started in the mid 60-ies when everyone was a member of a rock-pop band. So was I and natuarly we all shared a dream of becoming the new Beatles-Stones or what ever. It was something with the word "the" as in THE Beatles.

Years and band are behind many of us, but at this very moment Im doing me so called last attemt to set up a band in order to play some of the music Ive been writing during the years. Just for the fun of playing together and maybe get that sense of becoming a star for a breif moment in life.

So the search have started and hopefully I will find a couple of freinds that will participate in the project...

Dare studio history

"cafe dare & dare studio´s"

According to the fact that I do like to write about different things in MY world this blog-site was created. Here You`ll find music / lyrics and stories linked to what I call "dare studio´s".

In the mid 60-ies I started to write Me own songs. With the Beatles as main influence I wrote a couple of songs with My band at that time in mind. This the first band was baptised "the Leemons" and performed at a couple of teenageparties during this years.

The first song written was a sweet little song in Swedish called - Åh Carina. In mind was one of the girls that I did secretly love so much. (she never knew). The urge in me to go on writing was still very much present. A couple of different bands was formed, band that lived for a breif moment and then dissapered.

"fms-band / PBP "

It started as a homestudio project with app 250 different songs that Ive written. Main part of those songs was written with the Fetish/BDSM party scene that spread around the world in mind. But without the by then new tecno/rave sound. Many of the songs might be called x-rated but they was all telling a story in regards of different sexual behaviors.

Soon the homestudio grow to small and I beguin to My search for other musicians that wanted to be a part of the new band, called "fms-band". The band was based with 4 musicians, drums, bass, lead n rhythmguitar, keyboard plus 3 girls as front singers.

Those first years the band did change members at least a couple of times every month until its final setting was found. Adverts was placed in order to find vocalsingers. Almost 100 girls came to auditions that was held, among them three was choosen.

As all the members in the group also was playing in other groups, the project was set up to be a "fun break" with a couple of performances every year. All of us did have the normal familylife, with kids etc, so there was no intention to become anything near professionals.

When the band was contracted for a performance and a week before I rented rehearsing premesis for the weekend. Mainly rented from a local Scoutgroup.

The band played in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria, UK and we really did have a great time. Until there was a halt and nothing happened for a long time exept that new songs was written.

During this time I was contracted to a female German artist who wanted to record a couple of my songs. She had the intetions of becoming a new Madonna, and was already a well knowns fetish model. The songs was recorded but somehow as often happens in the mad music buisness this artist wasnt interessted in sharing royality fees!

"club dare" and "dare cafe" was formed as a no profit organisation with a music-cafe as the daily base and income fore the club. Here You could order a cup of coffey, listen-play music. Buy second hand instruments aso.

The fms-band changed its name to PBP. Where PBP was the short version of "park bench petting" a name idea from one of the vocal girls - Kristina. In its premesis the "dare studio" was formed. The studio as such was based at the start around a mixer-table linked to two TEAC 4-track recorders in one of the rooms in the cafe.

More and more gadgets was found that made it look more and more like a nice studio. Not near a prostudio but still with the possibility to record bands, singers. During a period of two years, the cafe and studio was in existance.

"a stack of music gadgets at dare studio´s"

The bands last performance was made at a club in Malmoe. The whole things was also recorded for a TV program that was sent shortly after the performance night. The band members will be presented on this blog-site possibly next time.

Both the "dare studio´s" and "PBP" is today alive only as project name´s on different recording sessions, music/lyrics made and mainly performed by Me.

collecting music gear

Pick designed by Hank B Marvin in app 1964

Since my first guitar in 1960 lots of different guitars, amplifiers and other gear have passed by. During a period I even had a huge collection of electric guitars. A few of them is still within my collection and used at different recording sessions.

Many of the guitars, amps and other gadgets that I use to have, I do miss with all my heart. The great sound that Me old TEAC 4-channel reel to reel taperecorder produced. The great Dynacord King with its built in echounit.

Only a couple of monthes ago I started to use my laptop as a recording device. It still feels very new and awquard to me. And Im still learning how to use it. Lucky for me I still have lots of old things to rely on.

Old cheap archtop that is a great player. Under transformation
and today fitted with twin humbuckers.

Galson 1972 Jazzbass, a copy but as far as I know
better then me original 1966 Jazzbass!
Ibanez Concord Jumbo 1972.
yet another lawsuit copy of the famous Gibson guitar.
Some real piece of shit that today serves as an
outdoor ornament of our house.
FMS-Bison 1989
Wanted a Bison, and made one Me self.

Ibanez AF75 Artcore.
a great archtop.
Burns Marvin 2005 replica.
sounds like the real deal, looks like it.
Burns Bison 1962 reissue from 2002.

My knowhow inside the computer music world grow bigger every day. In a way it started off with me downloading a music studio program called KRISTAL to my laptop. The program as such was great to use, looking and working almost exactly as an old analog studio. unfortinutlyt for me the I couldnt make the timing on each channel to work, overdub was out of sync.

So a freind of mine told me to try out Adobe audition, and suddenly everything was working almost great. But the fact that this program would cost me a small fortune was disliked by me for sure.

The final sollution to my problems, caused by a to old taperecorder that sounded like shit caused by severe speed alternation. Downloaded Audacity and there it was, it was free and everything I tried out so far tells me its a Great audio-studio system. Thanks to You who made this program and let me use it for free.

"across the atlantic"

Rewritten /

As lots of other guitarplayers I started learning how to play the guitar with a dream in mind. A dream of the day when I was listening to the approvals from an audience after playing me tunes for them on stage. A dream that did include to become a pro-musician.

I been on stage listening to the cheers of the audience but was never near the stage where I could actually live on making music. Something that a hundred years ago led me in to become a guitar teacher at evening classes. Today I can with ease tell that Im proud to have taught more then a hundred people to enjoy their musicskills in playing the guitar.

Some of my pupils gave me a good laugh during that time. As the married couple at app 35-40 whom I asked about their homepractice. The woman replied that He takes a chair and plays the homelessons while I do the dishes! Natuarly I told Him to do the dishes instead.

A group of (think it was 10) housewifes became their own group and wondered if I could teach em, and how much will they learn?

My answer was that if they did their best they could learn a couple of tunes and maybe they could learn how to play a 2-guitar version of Stanley Meyers - Cavatina! To be frank they didnt belive me at that moment.

In the pollowing spring their guitar skills was real good and maybe with the help of some beer, whine or something similar they brought their guitars on a trip to well known street Ströget in Copenhagen. As many other street musicians they performed in the street that sunny saturday with possibly 10 different tunes. In the evening they realised that they made a profit of more then 200,oo£!

Going back to the title of this blogg, it wasnt about those ladies that I wanted to write. Rather about the record shown below and the artist behind it.

A new series of classes was about to start. There I was in front of a group of wannabee guitar players, main part of em was adults. Only a few was teenagers when a sharp lookin man arrived with his the app 11-12 year old shye daughter. She was to be one of my pupils.

Could I teach Her to play the guitar? Before class even started the man dissapered and His daughter picked up a really shitty old plywood guitar from a gigbag. They guitar as such worth anything up to a maximum of 10,oo£.

It was really project impossible to teach her anything with such a shitty guitar so She had to loan another one during that class. Class was over and by then I knew that Her father was a golf-pro. He arrived back and at this moment nothing could stop Me from telling Him a few facts in a very harse manner. A bit mad I tild Him that He could afford to buy Her daughter a proper guitar if He wanted Her to learn how to play.

At the next lesson a week later Sarah arrived and seamed very happy. From a case she picked up a brand new 200,oo£ plus Yamaha and looked very proud.

A couple of years later my role as Her guitar teacher was changed. Now I was rather Her musicmentor and we enjoy´d playing together as often as we could. A young girl and a much older man, both of em trying to inpove their music skills. I told Her to start writing Her own music and She did. Soon we was palying Her songs where I could help Her telling what I thought about Her music.

Unfortinutly We did lost contact and the next time we met. She seam not to feel to well whe She asked me to drive Her to a palce in Malmoe (Skåne - flat state of Sweden) during the trip She told me a little about Her life, that She mowed to Canada and that She had made Her first album. An album that She gave me. Unfortinutly I lost that record somewhere but a couple of the songs is somewhere in my computer. One of the Im prety sure She wrote with me in mind.

Often Ive been wondering what happened to Her, the suddenly today I was sent a link from a freind. I found Her, there She was at least on the net, and the fact that She is at Her Second World Tour with Her band, playing Her music!

A quick search at You Tube and there She was with many different songs, You can find a link below.

Im so satisfied and proud that everything went well for Her and that Her fame already seam to be written in stars. She deserve thats for sure.

So take a look at the link and meet Sarah MacDougall, check out the other YouTube links and enjoy. Listen to Her lyrics more then once, they always have something to tell.
