learning computer gadgets

Almost since the first PC arrived I been using those things. To start with as a typewriter, then a way to find out more on the net, and as late as last week I learned how to use the computer and a music program as a recording studio.

I was amased cause it actually worked! Happiness is total and then today a freind of mine told me how to make music-pic-videos suitible for YouTube. Alright my first attemt at YouTube has already been made with a carvideo and a yacht video.

With the help of a fairly simple camera Canon IXUS860IS I was able to make me own musicvideo.
The link takes You to my first musicvideo.

"today gears"

Here samples of my 2011 collection.

Caused by economic problems some years ago a lot of my guitars and gear was sold of. Today I try in some way to find the gear that I hope could be included in my future collection.

In order to get a suitible set of gears I sold me ole Crate B160 and a VOX AD60 topboost took its place. The Vox seams to be the perfect amp to obtain the kind of sound I search for. The problem was now to find a loudspeaker cabinet with hopefully 1 or 2, 12 inch speakers. Resulting in me buying a second hand 75 watt Line 6 combo.

Burns Bison-62, VOX AD60 topboost, Line 6 o PB-10 amp

Things didnt go exactly my way, the Line 6 amp was soon fixed and working properly, so why scrap it? Thats me problem to solve in the near future. Eiter to go on scrapping the amp and use only its cab and speaker, or sell it in favour of a speaker cabinet that suits the VOX.

A really great guitar with sound from the 60-ies.

Framus Archtop 1962
the guitar was found as scrap, a new back was made.
Tripple humbuckers was fitted.

Unknown archtop, great player.
bought at 100,oo skr. The perfect party guitar.

During me life I have never ranked a guitar after its brandname. A good guitar is the one that I do love to play. If its made in China or USA doesnt matter at all. A guitar and its qualities is the thing only You as a player can sense.

During the early-mid 60-ies there was a clear difference between Luthiers and Guitarmakers. The later being companies that mass-produced numbers of exactly the same guitars. Those was often sold cheap by postal order or at different shopping malls.

Among those brands was for example: Fender and Harmony.
While brands like Gibson, Martin, Ephiphone, Gretsch was adressed as luthiers.

The same was to find among guitars from Europe. Even if many European producers manufactored both cheap massproduction guitars and expensive Luthier produced instruments.
The only European luthier that I know of was the swedish company Herman Carlson Levin who made extremly high quality guitars.
In Germany Höfner was producing both cheap simple guitars and expensve one´s.

Today invasion of guitars made in Asia is a kind of blessing for all guitar lovers. Now we can buy a high quality guitar for less money.

Prices now and then/
My first Höfner guitar was bought new in 1964 at the price of 700,oo skr. That meant that I was forced to work for almost three weeks just to pay for the guitar.
Today I can with ease buy a guitar with similar quality for app 1000-1500,oo skr. But the normal sallery today is 25000,oo a month!
I only need to work for app 10 hours to buy the guitar.

my little world of music

This website will show a bit of the music, musicians and instrument that´s been a part of my life.

In the very very beguinning according to Swedish music author "Povel Ramel" there was almost not a sound. But suddenly a small cricket began to make a sound, that soon was mixed with the sound from the wind. Animals and people started to make sound, the sound of a young couple in the heystack a summer evening. Suddenly the Swedish Gammeldance was made.

Povel Ramel, musician

Years passed by with extreme speed. In Austria there was this guy trying to become the new popstar on music heaven. He wrote magnificient music (possibly to get inside the nickers of som ladyfreinds). Music that during that time became popular, and every musician wanted to play his songs.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, pop-musician

With no radio, no TV, no telephone, no recordplayers and cd-players. They didnt even have the internet it took a long (years) for His brilliant music to reach the countries surrounding Austria.

notes, instead of CD records

Some years or so later over there in the US a new kind of music started to grow. A mowie was made with the band released in 1954-55. A year later the then 5-6 year old boy bought His very first record. It was a so called EP with Bill Haley and His Comets. I loved this record that much that I use to sit on it when having dinner. Natuarly one day it cracked in two pieces!

Years passed by, music filled my life and at Christmas one Year I did recive a brand new Guitar.

It was a so called spanish model with seelstrings made by Swedens welknowns luthier "Herman Carlson Levin". It was about time to make some music!

"Tommy Steele"

Also in a small Swedish village there was artist. At the the Folkpark performed different famous artist, like Tommy Steele, Emile Ford but also Swedish band like the Spotnicks, the Violents among others.

My first concert was great even if I didnt hear a bloody thing. In my eyes possibly the greatest band on earth entered the stage. From a distance I saw the Beatles live in Gothenburg among thousands of screaming youngsters.

I was thrilled to see them and their instruments. All the huge VOX amplifiers, the Gretsch, the Höfner violin bass, and the Rickenbacker. Not to forget the Ludvid drums infront of Ringo Starr. App at the same time I did have a penfreind in Liverpool who told he was a cousin of Paul Mc Carntney. Thanks to this my mailbox was filled with different Beatles posters. (Some of em is still in my posession.

Intense training started and at the age of 14 I was ready to form my first Pop-band.

To reach sucess in Sweden during this period it was aMUST to have a great band name. A great name on the pop-scene ment a name that started with : THE xxxxxx. Therefor we picked The Lee Moons to be our bands name.

In a community house boardroom we rehearsed. Microfones was fitted to antic candleholders, old worn out radiosets was to be our first amplifiers. I played my first electric a Egmond Lycky 7, at school I made a extremly heavy thing called a bassguitar. We did perform (app 10 different songs) at different parties held by youngsters.

One day we did realise that the band name didnt do us any good. A namechange was made to "Ottos" thanks to Otto who entered the band and bought a complete drumkit! His father also lent us a rehersal room in a barn.

My first employment in a musicshop made a world of difference in my music world and the band.
Now it was time to swap guitars and amplifiers. A red vinyl Höfner guitar with 2 microfons and a 10 watt Hagström amplifiers was great. The amp did have two inputs that gave me possibility to connect both the guitar and my song microphone to the amp.

During two yeas in the musicshop I swapped me gear almost more frequently then I change clothing. With all gear bought on credit it meant that when two years had passed I was lucky to have payed for both the first and second set of gear, still there as a big amount of money to pay on the rest of the things.

Two guitars was bought, but almost at first sight was stored. It was a Gibson ES and a Fender Bass. For some reason I never sold em, and for some reason I almost never used em. Later I found out that the two of em could be some kind of retirement money.

Different band became a part of my music life. In the late 60-ies I was the guitarplayer in a swedish dansband. During this time I bought the King of all electric guitars. Out of two examples imported to Sweden I bought the extremly expensive Gibson Barney Kessel Guitar. With all hardwear in 23 carat gold it was more then a dream.

A year later it was stolen and have since then never been seen in our country.

After this there was a huge break in my music life concerning bands. My main interest was instead classic cars, mainly made in the UK.

With a couple of sportscars parked outside the house I started to dream about a guitar and amp that could match the cars. It was natural that I choosed a Uk made guitar. Already I had own several different Burns guitars. Now it was time to start finding yet another one. In a couple of month´s I became almost a second hand dealer of old guitars. It lead to me having a collection of about 60-70 different guitars. Among them was all the famous brand.
Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, Burns, Ephiphone, Ibanez, Martin aso.

I will try to show pictures here of both me old guitars that hopefully is in use by some other players. But also there will be pics of the guitars that I do have in my collection today.
